#StayConnected : The Uptown GirlThere was a highly charged atmosphere at The Volts this week, as we opened our doors to five of Montreal’s top fashion bloggers, inviting them for a day of photo shoots, styling, and all things fashion at our home base. Each blogger got to style two outfits for themselves from our collections – one for every day, and one for evening – as we got an inside on what fashion means for each of them. And now, we’re excited to bring you the first featured blogger in our five-part series on this week’s #StayConnected photo shoot. Gabrielle Cosentino, also known as The Uptown Girl, is a die hard fashionista that decided one day, kind of on a whim, to share her unique perspective on fashion through her blog. “I felt slightly guilty stashing all my inspiration under lock-and-key and I had been getting a little too obsessive about checking fashion blogs. One day I wondered why I didn’t have my own, so I just started posting my outfits,” she told us. Since then, she’s been sharing her fashion stories, trends, and other tidbits with the world. Gabrielle says that what she loves most about fashion is how it can change how you see yourself, and even change how you see the world: “There’s something about the right dress or a fabulous pair of shoes that can bring out a confidence in you that you didn’t realize you had. To some people a street is just a street, to others, it’s a catwalk” ![]() The Uptown Girl Everyday Look - Picture by Julia C Vona For The Uptown Girl, electricity is all about energy and one’s enthusiasm for life. That high-voltage side can be represented in fashion as “ the feeling you get when you see something simply exquisite in the pages of your favorite fashion magazine or the newest runway shows [...] your heart kind of skips a beat and you need a little jolt of energy to get the blood flowing again.” ![]() The Uptown Girl is wearing a Gestuz tube skirt, a Rojas split back top and a The Battalion Faux Fur Vest. Picture by Julia C Vona For her everyday look, Gabrielle opted for a Gestuz tube skirt, a Rojas split back top and a The Battalion faux-fur vest. “The whole idea defining this first look was soft, cozy and as comfortable as possible. I started off with this printed, textured skirt, that is just seriously off the charts. There are no words to describe it with its really fun detailing. I then paired it with a navajo printed cropped tank top, which is probably one of my favorite details of the ensemble, with its wonderfully rendered cut-out-back. I love how The Volts has done a lot of fun things with vegan leathers and faux-fur vests. The faux-fur range is really so cozy, you just want to snuggle up with it.” For her evening glamour look Uptown Girl opted for a Gar-De emin silk dress. “I like to tie every collection to its era and categorize it in my mind. I feel like everything sort of tells a story and that informs my styling.” “This sixties sweetheart dress was really exciting to me! It sort of has this Brigitte Bardot aesthetic, flirty but fun, while being refined at the same time, which is a really thoughtful balance.” In love with these outfits?
